Death Note 1-37

  • Nov. 16th, 2009 at 10:06 PM
You know what's weird about reading this manga?

The protagonist is a horrible, horrible human being. And I have no sympathy for vigilantism. But... I like him! As a character, Light never fails to be interesting. I simultaneously want to see how he'll outsmart L this time and watch him die horribly. Which I'm sure he will. He's got "death by hubris" written all over him.

But. Augh. The women.

A) I only have one thing to say about tonight's episode of House: badly done, show! )

B) Tonight's HIMYM was okay. I love episodes where Lily gets to be disgusted about Barney's debauchery so in that respect, it was an A+! And lawyered of nature was funny. But I don't know -- I felt Barney's ways to pick up women were much funnier in earlier seasons. And Don isn't cute!

I am watching WWII in HD and I just recognized Tim DeKay's voiceover from like a minute of dialog. Either I am really good or he's got a very distinct voice. Or it could just be that I just watched White Collar last night. The voiceover casting is pretty impressive all around, actually.

I am not even kidding, right now the marines just seized an airfield and are talking about how they don't have supplies or air support because of fuck ups by the generals in charge. Sure, it's Guadalcanal not Iraq but still. But apparently there is some oil there we'd like Hitler not to get his hands on.

What's that thing about history and learning and doomed to repeat it? Yeah, the US military doesn't know either.

Unrelated, RIP Ken Ober. Remote Control was pretty much the best thing MTV ever aired, IMHO!

Tonight is going to be a good night. I will finish my sinfest fill and I will start consuming the canon for my yuletide assignment.

Teach me to pick a fandom based on, "Oh, I need an excuse to watch that!"

First, though, I am going to the store to pick up some fruit and something for dinner.

How Music Savvy is my F-list?

  • Nov. 16th, 2009 at 4:00 PM
Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever music player you have on random.
Step 2: Post a line/stanza from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Bold the songs when someone guesses correctly

I'll admit it: I would be going to see new moon, what with christopher heyerdahl and all, if they hadnt thrown solomon trimble and krys off the cast like a bunch of punk asses, what, who me, bitter? of course not.

Is anybody else planning to hit the movie this weekend?

Things of which are to be written by me:

* Mikey/Gabe first time NJ meet-up with blowjobs
* Pete/Gabe first time meet up with "I hate that guy" sex
* Mikey/Pete clumsy fooling around-ness
* Gabe/William with hotness and possibly bondage

You guys, other than Dawson's Creek and Buffy, I don't think I've ever been in a fandom when, you know, the *rest* of fandom was in it. Of course, there actually *is* a fandom for this (well, apparently not for Pete/Gabe), as opposed to the ones that are usually just me and [info]inlovewithnight.

Almost 1000 words on Yuletide. I love it when the writing thing is working for me. It's been a while, which makes me want to "writewritewriteomgnow", which wouldn't be bad except for the whole life and job and things. Bah.

ReBoot. AndrAIa, Enzo Matrix. Not long after "Game Over." Pants. 100 words. For November Drabblefest.

game sprite. 100w. )

And now, if you don't mind, I'm going to write approx. a bajillion stories in which people are happy, and all is contentment. Maybe they kiss a little; who knows. It is a possibility!

I looooove vendor shows during work hours. Free gifts, a video game console raffle, and all of the cookies/cheesecakes/coffee/fruit smoothies we could want. And then of course there's all the science catalogs.

Then tonight I have to make like 3 dozen oatmeal-raisin and oatmeal-cranberry cookies, for our Thanksgiving potluck luncheon tomorrow.

*shakes from sugar overload* ...Eeek.

Christmas Cards

  • Nov. 16th, 2009 at 3:52 PM
Who wants one? I know for my predominantly American flist, you still haven't celebrated Thanksgiving, but since ours was celebrated last month, and Halloween and Rememberance Day have passed, it's a long stretch from here on out til Christmas for us Canadians.

Culturally speaking, back in my homeland it's considered Christmas once Halloween's finished, so I'm actually late in starting this up, lol. I won't send the cards out until the end of the first week in December, but I do like to have everything in order so I don't overlook anyone or anything.

Anyways, reply (comments are screened) here with your name and address or send me a pm. Both will reach me.

Happy Christmas ♥

This is in the FAQ, and many of you know this already, but there's no harm in repeating it for all of you wonderful participants (and for the Yuletide newbies):

There is absolutely no requirement that your story has to have anything to do with a holiday. Obviously, there's no reason *not* to write a holiday story either, if you are so inclined, but Yuletide is an exchange of presents--and the present you choose to give to your recipient can be anything at all. As elyn's icon says, "Warning! Yuletide might contain: anything. Bears."

If you want to find out how your recipient feels about holiday stories, email the mods: yuletide@yuletidetreasure.org

(Also, my icon has probably given you an earworm. You're welcome.)

Yuletide Nudge 2009 Roll Call!

  • Nov. 16th, 2009 at 1:49 PM
Hello fellow procrastinators!

For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, the Yuletide Procrastinators' Mutual Support Group (aka [info]yuletide_nudge) is there to give a daily "nudge" to people who need a little help with getting stories done on time.

For the last two years we've mostly posted daily writing and/or anti-procrastination tips, so I thought we'd try something different this year. I'd like to select a few [info]yuletide_nudge members at random each day and make them Featured Writers. Featured Writers would answer a few questions about themselves, their fandoms, how long they've been doing Yuletide, and -- most importantly -- how they're coming along on their stories!

So that people who are picked actually want to participate, I'm making it opt-in. If you would be willing to be a featured writer on the [info]yuletide_nudge comm, please take the poll in this post.

Ginger makes me sneeze

  • Nov. 16th, 2009 at 10:28 AM
So far this morning I have cleaned out my pantry and rearranged it, sorted through my spices and rearranged them (yes, alphabetically), started laundry and typed up another couple hundred words on Yuletide. I'm bailing on a Superintendent Luncheon that I was supposed to go to, because I've decided I don't want to go. After I pick up Kidlet from kindergarten, I think I'm going to hit Costco for chicken, hamburger, popcorn and chocolate covered pomegranate treats.

My life is *so* exciting, you guys.

I've also found that I have a huge supply of baking stuff, so there may be baking for the office for Christmas, which is a huge thing for me. It may not be anything fancier than chocolate chip cookies or brownies or something, but it will be something, and I need that. I'm feeling much better about life in general for various reasons, and so I'm just much happier. The nice thing about manic/depressive stuff is, no matter how low you go, there's always an up side eventually. Yes, I can find the silver lining in mental instability. ::bows::

In other news - all of my celebrity boyfriends are adorable, though some currently more than others.
